As there's evidently money in doing it.

Where did you read that? I have no idea who makes a better dot. I've heard great things about both of them.

No idea. I think we're more worried about who makes the fakes... and what shortcuts they have. I think the idea is that a fake Romeo 5 likely is crappy compared to a real one.

I don't care who makes it or where it comes from as long as its not a POS fake. My Romeo5's have been outstanding, especially considering their cost. And, yes its shocking they make a fake $100 Optic but I'm sure it cost them $10 to make. I can't figure out how they make Harbor Freight tools that weigh a ton and sell for pennies, shipping should make them more expensive, but they do.

Just glad I'm aware and wanted to make others aware so they dont get smoked on a Romeo, even if its just $100 optic.

The whole diamond jewelry market seems to be a sham, natural or synthetic.

You are indeed correct, lots of counterfeits out there, so buyer beware.
This probably doesn't matter, due to the comingling of inventory at Amazon warehouses. Sellers can opt out of that, but I'm not sure there's a great way to determine which sellers do opt out; sellers that do opt out do incur additional costs on their end.
