A lame "What pistol should I buy" post -

I can only imagine the OGs on the board cringing at this post but genuinely, I dont know what direction to go after many many videos, borrows, and articles.
I have shot Glocks for 25 years, occasionally trying M&Ps, HK, Steyrs, CZ poly, etc.. all of them poly. I have a hankering for a steel frame handgun, full size, for a full time civilian battle belt rig silly narrative that is increasingly looking less silly.
I was just about to pick up my first 2011, but am wavering now, thinking I am paying a premium for hype when I am really just buying a mid tier gun, since its not Alchemy, Nighthawk, Brown, etc.. was looking more at sub-3k price tier.

    Interested in:
    Walther Q4/5 SF
CZ Shadow 2 or SP-01 Shadow
    Bul Armory SAS Tac II

For those that are experienced with some of these, do you feel there you are just getting more gun (in any aspect) for the price than others? As in, maybe it has a custom feel or some attribute that stands out and made you realize it was a sound purchase?

Thanks for any info and Merry Christmas M4C.

Since you say for a “battle belt”, none of the above.

If you’re looking for fun and games, pick whichever gets you jolly. I’m partial to the Shadow 2 once it has some Cajun goodness.

    Walther.
    Had CZ, preferred Walther.
    Not familiar with BUL.

One thing to consider is holster availability. If you want this for a war belt set up you may have a hard time finding a duty type holster for these. The Shadow is the only one I have experience with but it’s as much a competition gun than a combat pistol.

For your stated purpose, I really like Sig P series as well as Beretta 92s. Either a Legion P226, or an LTT 92 would be solid as either. While there are SAO variants of the Sig and Beretta, if you want a single action then I think a 2011 would be your best choice.

Before you decide go to the LGS and see how one of the Hi Power options or a CZ75 derivative works for you.

If you want to go premium there's never been a better time to snag a Colt 1911 now that the Series 70 is back in production, they even have a stainless option if that sort of thing interests you.

There are plenty of holster makers that will make you one for whichever model.

I’d say it’s a toss up between the CZ and the Walther. It’s more of a striker fired vs hammer fire decision.

Personally, I would prefer the Shadow 2. It isn’t a customized gun as most think it is.

I’m a single action, hammer gun guy. (Ok a dufus)

At your price point of $3k, a Staccato P and optic is doable. I have a few Staccato, they have are all good guns I’d use/carry without reservation. There any number of duty, range or carry holsters available for them.
While I’ve heard good things about the BUL, I have no experience with them.
I own CZs, but all of them required some tweaking to be “just right”.
A true "Gun Guy" (or gal) should have familiarity and a modicum of proficiency with most all firearms platforms.

I agree with the above....for a premium, go to war battle belt pistol, none of the above.

At the top of my list for this purpose would be a Sig P226 full size Legion SAO. If you prefer SA/DA, then naturally that's offered as well. If I want to spend a bit more, I'd choose a Stacatto P (wouldn't call a current Colt premium in any way). A DW Valor in Duty Treat .45 ACP would also be on my list, if a 10 round capacity were considered adequate.

A CZ75, Beretta 92, or High Power would definitely be appropriate as well.

Grizz just wrote my post for me. That Legion SAO 226 is one special gun for the price. Dont buy with optic, the new ones have holes for all the optic choices these days. But double check before you buy, ie take the plate off and look. And the Stacatto P is awesome too for more $$$.

I will jump in and suggest a p226 legion also (or a 229 if you want a compact). Some people hate sigs ergos. I was one of those people until I tried a legion. I realized with a few upgrades, which are present on the legion series, the p226 is a great gun, and has actually become my favorite.

A LTT beretta is also an outstanding gun. I currently don't own one, but that is because I prefer the sig platform more. The new 92x series of gun are pretty good for the money also.

I won't say much on the cz's. I had both a cajunized p01 and p07, but I never fell in love with the cz's and I personally would go with the 92 or sig over cz, but there are many who disagree.

I too was a long time glock shooter. My glock collection is slowly dwindling. Now that I have discovered HK's LEM trigger with the trey guns short reset, I might have no use for a striker fired gun outside of a micro gun.
