I called and switched my order with LaRue to a 12.0 rail. I think this will work out better for the owner who is pretty tall (6'03). This will give him a longer iron sight radius, and allow him to set up the VG as far out as he feels comfortable with.

After the rail comes in (about a 2-3 week wait), all I will need to finish it is an optic/mount combo. I am hoping Eotech comes out with a revised battery box on their sight @ the Shot Show that runs on CR123's, which I heard was in the works. Otherwise I will go with the Aimpoint T1/LaRue combo....

The rifle looks good to me as is. Just put the light and the sling on, and use the rest of his CC to buy Ammo.

    Here it is:

I let him check out my Eotech 512 & my Aimpoint T-1, along with a co-workers Comp M4. He wanted the Eotech, so that's what he got. I am going to hold off on ordering him a sling until the new MagPul ASAP/Sling combo is released. I mounted my X300 on it for reference. His should be here Monday. We are hitting the range next Wednesday.

I had a similar thing happen to me. My friend and fellow 3gunner (member BBsound here on M4c) asked me to do anything to his upper that I would do if it were my own. So being the resourceful and budget minded person that I am I asked myself what could I do to his new 20" stainless DPMS bull barrel upper to make it more competitive for 3gun for the least amount of money?

With the help of a machinist friend we turned the barrel down to .650" under the handguards, threaded the barrel to 1/2-28, blended in and indexed the JP stainless .875" big Bennie Cooley muzzle brake and ventilated the FF tube. It turned out badass!
