Well with his moral track record I doubt he's got divine protection. He may be the Republican party's "chosen one" this year but I'm just not seeing the Hand of God swatting away all adversaries.

I think what he might mean is we have no clue what God will do or what his plans are. To assume he will do anything about anything/anyone is just a guess/hope.
In fact, knowing what will happen in the future (what is written in Revelation); it's going to get bad for Christians. We will be persecuted, hunted and killed. Sure, everything works out in the end, but during those times of tribulation, it will suck for the whole world. Trump is just a tiny pawn in this pre-determined end game chess match. How it ends is pre-determined...everything in between, other than what is actually written, is unknown.
