What is it with gun rights group leaders being total a-holes. Wayne was just creepy, and Dudley Brown seemed like a complete ass when he first started making noise over a decade or so ago. Maybe he and the gun groups have gotten better recently.
The Second Amendment ACKNOWLEDGES our right to own and bear arms that are in common use that can be used for lawful purposes. The arms can be restricted ONLY if subject to historical analogue from the founding era or is dangerous (unsafe) AND unusual.
It's that simple.
Yeah, I don't know about ol' Dud. I wasn't too impressed with RMGO when I lived in CO. They seemingly completely botched their challenge to the mag limit law back in '14. And now, I get five or six emails a week from NAGR begging for money. I've never been associated with either RMGO or NAGR, so I have no idea how they got my email or how my membership is constantly in a state of "ExPiRinG SoOn!!11!" when I never had a membership to begin with.
The leadership of GOA, 2AF, and FPC seem like stable people, so I send my money their way.
NRA can FOAD as far as I'm concerned and I'll continue to ignore NARG/RMGO.
Even more depressing to consider the fact that the price of his suits probably did factor to the amount of influence he had as a lobbyist. Those twats in congress really will judge you by your suit, shoes and watch because it's an indicator of how much money and or influence you actually bring to the table.
That is the reality of how things get done in government, it's all about your proximity to the cash trough. The only thing that burned most folks about Wayne was he didn't actually buy anything with all that money, if he was getting shit done nobody would care about what kind of suit he was wearing. If it was Wayne and the NRA that brought us the Heller ruling 95% of us would have been ok with the BOD giving him a gold Rolex for his efforts. But when he roadblocks the Cato Institute when they do it...and then tried to take credit for their win...well he ain't earning his fancy suits.
It was a different NRA under Corbin and Washington when they went after ATF tooth and nail following Waco.

One thing that impressed me about Ayoob long before joining SAF: Even though there are things where I think he's overconservative and disagree with him, 20 years ago in his prime or slightly into the trailing end of it, when we were boardmates at AmBack despite me not being one of his paying students he put together some recommendations on deadly-force defense as applied for the high-functioning autistic in case I ever had to drag iron for myself or The Ex, asking in return only that I share the lessons I learned with others as he and some of our buddies shared with me and in turn their mentors had shared with them.
I'm willing to give some benefit of the doubt for someone who gives generously asking little to nothing in return.

I think that is a fair assessment on the suit thing.
Something I will add is the only times I met Larry Pratt were at Knob Creek so it was either hot/cold/bone dry/wet/dusty/muddy and I never could see wlp or many other nra higher ups getting outside of a climate controlled environment like that.
This may(or may not) explain some things.
For those that will want to balk a few paragraphs in, do read the whole thing. It isn't just an "I don't like them so I am going to call them names" rant.
