    Have we just discovered aliens?

    https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/...overed-aliens/

In a CNBC interview broadcast the first week of 2024, UK astronaut Tim Peake was asked to speculate on extra-terrestrial life, and he said ‘Potentially, the James Webb telescope may have already found [alien life]… it’s just that they don’t want to release or confirm those results until they can be entirely sure, but we found a planet that seems to be giving off strong signals of biological life.’
I for one welcome our new alien overlords!

Potentially, the James Webb telescope may have already found [alien life]

    Words mean things.

    po·ten·tial·ly
    /pəˈten(t)SHəlē/
    adverb
    adverb: potentially

with the capacity to develop or happen in the future.
"newly available oil might potentially create a drop in prices"

So potentially, the James Webb telescope may have already found Zues, Spiderman, the planet Klendathu, the debris field of Krypton, my old GI Joe in space and anything else you want to name.

Because that sentence isn't news, it's philosophy at best and empty speculation at worst. We didn't just anything, Peake simply pondered a "what if" for clickbait.

    With such certainty... I'm convinced!

Would only add that "biological life" and "aliens" aren't exactly the same thing. Of course we've had much stronger evidence for "past" biological life on Mars and even that is pretty inconclusive.

To think there is no other life in the galaxy is absurd. Crossing the galaxy is the issue.

For sure. Can not rule out the solar system by any means either.
