I never really enjoyed it, but had no issues flying until 9/11 & then it all went to crap...before that I actually felt like a customer & the airports / airlines were delighted to take my $$$ & have me there.

Post it turned into feeling like being a burden & it's my privilege to ba able to have their services & being viewed like a possible terrorist means they are doing their job...then some asshat lit his shoes on fire & now we gotta look at everyones damn feet. Fired good pilots due to the jab & now hiring based on diversity.

    It's all BS.

Once upon a time I was more at home in the air than on the ground... post TSA, you could not PAY me enough to fly the unfriendly skies of Big Airline. If I ever have to physically go to Head Office in Italy, I'll book passage on a ship.

I haven’t flown on my dime since 9/11 and VERY few times on the dimes of others.

This nation as a whole has decided that milking cash cows is more in its skill set than raising new cows.

We will need a huge kick in the balls to break that vicious cycle. And it won’t happen while certain folks are still allowed to get filthy rich doing the dirty deeds.

I'd honestly pondered the idea that IF the American Worker of today is truly as big of a piece of shit as I believe (for the most part), why aren't airplanes falling from the sky. I truly think we're getting closer to that becoming a "thing".

The idea of building the best quality of anything is by far the exception these days. And if you do find the rare company willing to take that approach, you'll pay a steep premium.

That Delta 757 that just threw a nosewheel at Hartsfield's on Delta's MX guys. The NEWEST 757s are around 20 years old and just entering the last third of their pax-service lives, and all it takes is one idiot not torqueing the lugnuts to spec. (Gee, where have we heard that before?)

Last fall I took a one-way flight from Houston, back to New Orleans on Spirit. I was leaving my employer and they asked that I drive my company car back to the Mothership and they would pay for a flight back to NOLA.

It was a 8PM flight and the terminal was packed with people who thought they bought a 1st class ticket on the Concord for an International flight. The amount of disrespect they showed the gate employees was my first clue to how that flight was going to go and the almost 1HR delay did the situation no favors.

During the flight, which is an up and down, 55 min flight to NOLA. No drinks/liquids of any kind were served and people were apocalyptic they were not getting something for free on an 119.00 dollar flight. All the "ladies", busting out of their plus sized Lululemon knock-offs and guts hanging out of their sports bra, were good entertainment. It was one of the few times I have checked my hip for my P2SK and realized I wasnt carrying and felt naked without it.

Im with others, I like a 0600 flight with business types. I dress in jeans, a button down shirt and typically wear my Danner Panorama Low shoes. It may not be the shirt and tie if yesteryear, but it sure isnt a set of crocs snd a Champion hoodie either.

Flying sucks and the race to lowest common denominator of QC/QA in the airline/aircraft industry is concerning.

I used to be a road warrior and was sometimes lucky to get on a plane when I needed to, often on a couple hour notice. But I don’t care, I’d change out of my field clothes and boots regardless to get on board. That’s because it is still me representing my company when I travel. Right before the pandemic, I started flying myself and while it may not be as convenient as sitting down with a cocktail and doing some work, I am in control of who gets on my plane and I get off the ground on my schedule, weather permitting of course.

Back when te family still flew, this was part of why we preferred redeyes - between the different crowd and "hitting the ground fresh" getting into Indianapolis or Orlando in the early morning.
