Looks like DeSantis is getting Florida ready for a surge of illegals and refugees.

Gov. Ron DeSantis deploys additional officers to South Florida amid potential surge of migrants from Haiti
More than 250 additional officers, soldiers headed to southern coast of Florida

Amid a surge of violence in Haiti, Gov. Ron DeSantis has ordered additional officers and assets to South Florida and the Keys in anticipation of a potential influx of migrants from the Caribbean nation.

The governor said he has directed the Division of Emergency Management, the Florida State Guard and state law enforcement agencies to deploy more than 250 additional officers and soldiers and more than a dozen air and seacraft to the southern coast of Florida.

"For quite some time, the State of Florida has been dedicating significant resources to combat illegal vessels coming to Florida from countries such as Haiti," DeSantis said in a Wednesday news release. "No state has done more to supplement the (under-resourced) U.S. Coast Guard's interdiction efforts; we cannot have illegal aliens coming to Florida."

Looks like the State Guard is involved as well. With Biden being very pro-invasion, probably a good thing they have troops he can't Federalize at the drop of a hat. Reactivating the State Guard has undoubtedly been one of DeSantis best decisions.
It's f*****g great, putting holes in people, all the time, and it just puts 'em down mate, they drop like sacks of s**t when they go down with this.

Not sure how many awares of it, but he's been sending LE to help TX at the border also for a long time. He'd have made a great POTUS, but, he didn't display the mojo I thought he would on the national level and allowed himself to play Trump's game, and that was a bad idea. But, now he stays in my state, and that's win win as far as I'm concerned. He's not perfect, but he's overall a solid person who's young and will learn as he goes along.

Yeah, OK, I'll admit it...A machete-wielding cannibal invasion might actually call for a handful of heavily-armed ex-SOF guys.

I think we should close the embassy and be done with that chit hole, but as far as losing it, unlikely is my guess. It's not say the ME where they will have battle hardened Haji types who will show up with RPGs, mortars, etc and focus on taking it. Unlike leaving our ambassador and his staff to die, a Marine unit that's focused on protecting embassies arrived. Best use of tax $ would be to get our people out but. I hope that unit is loaded for bear and anyone who decides to get spicy is converted to pink mist:

"The United States has sent a specialized Marine unit to help secure the U.S. Embassy in Haiti as the country struggles through a political transition amid rising gang violence, authorities said Wednesday."

I agree, it's time to pop smoke and abandon that zip code.

I had a couple buddies who were in FAST company. Fleet Anti-terrorism Strike Team if I'm remembering correctly...or as we used to call it around the infantry, Fake Ass Seal Team. At least they're finally being used for their intended purpose.

Seems like the MEU lands in Haiti about once a decade or so to settle the latest anarcho-criminal takeover....pretty sure they were there in 09 or 10 or so. Everyone I've ever known who set their boots on the ground there has nothing positive to say about the experience.

Reminds me of a few years back when bad orange man casually referred to it as a s---hole, and all the dopey libs in the media went nuts. Now President Barbeque is leaving the corpses in the streets, and the cannibal gangs are cleaning up. I never thought I would get so much amusement out of real life hellscape, but here we are.

Marines have spent more time in Haiti than any other country, and more time than they have spent at half their bases. Haiti is a habitual offender. I've had my time there, and of all the counties, war or no, it was the worst.

Re: FAST, they are the SMEs for that job for sure, even better if surrounded by a MEU.

...about to lose embassy in Haiti...

One definition for "lose" given by merriam-webster.com, as an intransitive verb:

"to undergo deprivation of something of value"

So, closure of the embassy is no loss.
