That’s no excuse. Any engineer knows, when dabbling into the unknown, expect the unknown. “Oh shit, I didn’t consider that” doesn’t fly. It’s the same logic that lead to deep water horizon. Looking for excuses instead of looking for threats. Cuck mentality plaguing politics and industry for the past 40? 50? Years?

People need to investigate and call shit out… **** the consequences, grow some balls

Edit: if I poisoned my local neighborhood because “I did t know” - I’d be crucified

I'm just saying how it happened, not that it's ok.

People in the area had lots of problems, livestock got radiation poisoning, I don't want to even think about dairy cows who got dosed and continued to provide milk to the region. Watch the series and lots of shit went wrong.

But while we are at it, the guys stomping around the Trinity site in their street clothes the next day also didn't do themselves any favors. We put mil guys in bunkers during tests of thermonuclear devices that were way too close. Some of the scientists were also working way to close.

The first thermonuclear device delivered more than twice the expected yield and as a result so many people were outside the "secure" zone it wasn't even manageable. Lots of adjacent atolls were still completely inhabited.

I really do think a lot of this information has been recently declassed for the first time. Lots and lots of new info.

Of course it's an excuse. It was brand new technology. Some of them even thought they'd light the atmosphere on fire from a chain reaction with the first blast. There's no harm in saying "we do not know what's going to happen...". There IS harm in the foul, the consequences, and hiding the consequences and the response is the bigger issue.

Agreed. See my post above. There so many unknowns, so many variables. It had never been done before, and they didn't know what they didn't know.

And then add in secrecy of WWII and the Soviets…
The Second Amendment ACKNOWLEDGES our right to own and bear arms that are in common use that can be used for lawful purposes. The arms can be restricted ONLY if subject to historical analogue from the founding era or is dangerous (unsafe) AND unusual.

    It's that simple.

And sociopathic twatwaffles in various Alphabet Soup given the perfect excuse to indulge whatever sick ideas entered their minds in the name of "national security," consequence-free... kinda like the one thing I'm gonna beef on Churchill for, shielding SOE from any accountability by destroying their records.

There were half the alphabet agencies in WW2 than we had just 10 years later. A fraction of what we have now. And they all imprisoned people in the name if 'national security', and with the Red Menace, it really didn't matter if you were actually guilty or not.

But later we found out half of Hollywood were Communists.
I would say going as far back as the Spanish Civil War our media has been infiltraited by Communists.

Part of my point, sir. If we'd crushed the roaches early maybe they wouldn't have spread like bedbugs. Recall my prior post mentioning the Internal Security Act of 1950? Basically "you're either with Truman without question or you're a Commie spy"...

That's actually covered in detail and there is a bit more to it.
