FN sues Ruger over trademark infringement

"SCAR" vs "SFAR". Easily confused, I guess.

"FN accuses Ruger of using a mark – “SFAR” – that is pronounced similarly to “SCAR” and used in connection with directly competing firearms. FN alleges that this action by Ruger is likely to cause confusion among consumers, leading them to believe there is some affiliation or association between Ruger’s products and FN’s “SCAR” branded firearms. The complaint details Ruger’s alleged intentional violations, including marketing efforts that leverage the “SFAR” mark without reference to Ruger, potentially trading upon FN’s established goodwill."

We all hate it when we go to buy a $1000 SFAR and accidentally purchase a $4000 SCAR. Or vice versa.

Waste of time and money…..the terminology of small frame AR is very established and has been for years with .308 caliber ARs. FN is gonna lose.

    Happens all the time!

I hate the SCAR and can safely assume, I'd hate the SFAR almost as much. This case is what I call a "Tard Fight"

I should go through my A&D book & see how many companies have piggy-backed the icon...bet I have more PA-15's than AR's.

This honestly sounds like an excuse I would make when my wife looks at the CC statement
Dr. Carter G. Woodson, “History shows that it does not matter who is in power or what revolutionary forces take over the government, those who have not learned to do for themselves and have to depend solely on others never obtain any more rights or privileges in the end than they had in the beginning.”

From the attached legal document in the link. Makes Ruger sound downright underhanded:

"This Court has personal jurisdiction over Defendant Ruger because the company regularly conducts business in this judicial District and has committed acts of trademark infringement, unfair competition, and unfair and deceptive trade practices affecting commerce in this District including, among other things, offering for sale and selling products in this District bearing trademarks that infringe upon FN’s trademark rights."

Dear Herstal, go eat a buttnugget.

By that logic Fairbanks-Morse commits trademark infringement because "FM" is one letter away from "FN."

So the Ruger Sfar and the FN Scar arent the same rifle?
I tried to follow the science but it simply was not there. I then followed the money, thats where i found the science.

    Your dentist's name is krentist?

How much of the market has Ruger taken away from FN with this rifle? I'm guessing a net $0. I don't suspect there's a big overlap in the venn diagram of SCAR people and Ruger people, at least for their semi auto rifle lines.
