Tennessee is trying to ban 'chemtrails' from planes based on a wild conspiracy theory

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/new...a71abbc&ei=449

SB 2691 passed in the Senate on Monday, according to The Tennessean. It has not yet advanced in the house.

The chemtrail conspiracy theory claims that commercial aircraft spray chemicals into the atmosphere for malign purposes.

This is referenced in the state's bill, which claims the federal government "may conduct geoengineering experiments by intentionally dispersing chemicals into the atmosphere."
A 2017 study polled 1,000 Americans and found that 10% of them believe the conspiracy theory is "completely" true.

In reality, the trails produced by jets, called contrails, are made of water vapor.
I've turned my share of dinosaurs into noise and never knew I was part of a great conspiracy.

Religion is doing what you are told no matter what is right. Morality is doing what is right no matter what you are told...

The author of the article goes on about conspiracy theories that have nothing to do with the bill. Typical troll reporter.

^^^^^ This is the correct answer.

Bill summary: Prohibits the intentional injection, release, or dispersion, by any means, of chemicals, chemical compounds, substances, or apparatus within the borders of this state into the atmosphere with the express purpose of affecting temperature, weather, or the intensity of the sunlight.

The first thing that came to mind are so-called cloud seeding activities for the purpose of affecting weather. The technique is to release chemicals, typically silver iodide, into the atmosphere for the purpose of generating more precipitation. This is an ongoing effort in several states. If this bill passes those type of things won't be allowed here. Whether one agrees with banning such activities is one thing, but a 'chemtrail conspiracy' headline is simply low-IQ clickbait.

Chemical weather modification is hardly new. The US attempted chemical weather modification over a half century ago during the Vietnam war in an effort to generate more and longer periods of precipitation to disrupt transport of enemy supplies. The notion of releasing chemicals into the atmosphere to reflect sunlight in an effort to affect temperatures is more recent.

    Oct 2022

    Excerpts:

The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy is coordinating a five-year research plan to study ways of modifying the amount of sunlight that reaches the Earth in order to temporarily temper the effects of global warming.

Stratospheric aerosol injection involves spraying an aerosol like sulfur dioxide into the stratosphere, and because it has the potential to affect the entire globe, often gets the most attention.

SB 2691 isn't a 'wild conspiracy theory'. It bans the above type activities from being conducted here in Tennessee. I'm fine with that.

What I have noticed, especially around things like theories is that they always pull at about 10%. I think if you pull people as to whether or not water was wet, 10% would say no. So what I’m saying in effect is 10% is basically zero.

ETA: Looking at all those pics from WWII, I didn't know we were chemtrailing the Nazi's into submission...

The Second Amendment ACKNOWLEDGES our right to own and bear arms that are in common use that can be used for lawful purposes. The arms can be restricted ONLY if subject to historical analogue from the founding era or is dangerous (unsafe) AND unusual.

    It's that simple.

Is it really a “conspiracy” when the Government has admitted to doing it?

I'm an airline pilot, and during my flying escapades that have spanned almost 40 years off and on... I've been high enough to make out the curvature of the earth and have an intimate knowledge of CONTRAILS. The 10%, are the SAME MORONS that believe the earth is FLAT. Yes, there is a big "flat earth" conspiracy group too.

It's not the planes, it's the BOATS you guys need to be looking at. There are a lot more boats spraying mind control and mass sterilization drugs in the water. Don't look up... It's the boats...

Well, the earth is definitely not flat. That’s already been proven time and time again. Those are crazy people who think the earth is flat!

I think that this is the crux of the issue, for this to work, you’d have to have a massive program, at hundreds of airports, thousands of people, for decades- and no one talks.
