hey, guys, help me understand what is so cool about these? from just looking at them, they look like they'd be even more slippery and difficult to hold on to than the standard handguards when wet/muddy/sweaty. I'm guessing like all the other magpul products, there's a purpose, I just don't see it yet. could be lack of caffeine this AM

I want them for a couple of reasons.

One is that I like the ability to attach things to the slots (like a light). The second is that they cover up the sling mount hole and handguard cap a bit and if your hand creeps out there that becomes one hot bitch.

I don't like the look of them at all. I'm function over fashion though... so....

They almost give a "FALish" appearance to the AR... and that ain't good, baby.

That's worth the price of admission, right there. I'm so used to mid-lengths and longer railed fore-ends that picking up a basic carbine almost feels awkward because my hand is so far back. Being able to creep my hand a little farther foward without contacting a hot gas block would be worth an extra few bucks...

Those are the same reasons I want one.

Correction: those are the same reasons I just ordered one from Grant.

If you hold them in your hand, you might have a different opinion. They have a quality feel to them that is far superior to the common handguard.

I like the "FALish" look of the handguard. I think it looks cool, look comfortable to fold, and it looks solid.

    I like it.
