    Olight Osight

    https://www.olightstore.com/osight-3...charging-cover

I know itís Chinese. I know itís probably not bomb proof. But I have a shameful weakness for some Olight products. There, I said it. And this RD has some very cool features. The charging cover idea is very, very cool. It might be a little on the tall side. But for $159 Iím gonna run one and see. I just ordered it from Amazon. Iíll post a review when I get it mounted on my M&P 2.0 and test it.

    Stay safe

Yea.. I saw the release. Pretty cool ideas. I hope Aaron from Sage Dynamics gets a hold of one to put it through his torture test.

On a side note, it looks like they are potting all the electronics now, and also have changed the weapon light pressure tape connection from the magnetic-push forward to a magnetic-push forward-twist lock configuration. I sent their customer service a suggestion about that awhile back and recommended exactly that. They could have at least sent me a free light.

There are already some reviews and tests out there that I was looking at. One dude showed himself mounting it in the field in like 30 seconds and then he beat the ever loving shit out of it and he said it lost zero. I donít think it was properly mounted. And I donít go out of my way to destroy my optics. I just need it to hold up to the normal drops and bumps. Using it to rack the slide in an emergency shouldnít cause a problem. I did see a submersion in water that went fine. Iím optimistic because Iíve never had an issue with other Olight products.

There are a few companies in the industry I just refuse to buy anything from. Olight is one of them.

TBH I haven't been overly impressed with any of the Olight flashlights I've owned.

Maybe the OSight will be awesome, though...I'll wait and see.

I wouldn't buy one. TopShotDustin got sent one direct from Olight. He wanted to like it, but the optic makes some mistakes that established red dot makers usually don't. Overall, it looks like a wait until there's a 2nd gen version.

Makes sense. Pretty much everyone doesn't get it completely right the first time.

The ability to recharge the battery is fine, but I'm not sure why I'd want an optic that doesn't have the option to replace the battery if out of juice. Waiting for battery to charge = out of service gun.

Based on my experience having a PL-1 II Valkyrie plastic tailcap crumble into dust just sitting in a duffelbag...
