    this is sandman's upper:

if you can't find the CASV-FS, you have three options:

    1) buy a flip front sight & put it on top of the rail (shorter sight radius since your rail stops before it reaches the gas block)

    2) remove your dedicated gas block & install a gas block with a front sight built into it:

    3) replace your gas block with a railed one so you can put a flip front sight on top of it:

Any of the three choices are good..it's all up to you which one is best suited for your personal preference. Either way, I am willing to catch the dedicated gas block if ever you throw it away!

A CASV-M doesn't have the notch for the front sight/gasblock in the first picture you showed. Just the CASV-EL.

That said, just keep looking and use an optic for now? It'd suck to get a front sight that doesn't blend too well and then get the dedicated front sight that you can't find later. Unless you want to send it to me.. :-P I'm not finding too many parts I want either. Blame Oshit.

fulton armory has FSB's tapped for setscrews.. i've used a couple, i don't like the idea but like the idea of having these cheesy local gunsmiths taking drillbits to my fine barrels less. there are some ways the set-screw design could be improved- tapping the rear ring for a set-screw divot that WOA and others drill into their barrels would be a huge first step.

or send it off to one of the famous gunsmiths praised around here all the time

Might try eguns.com? Email them about what they have in stock.

did vltor give you an estimate of when the CASV-M front sight would be back in stock when you contacted them directly?

by the way, i know this doesn't help your particular situation, but vltor has a new midlength CASV; the CASV-S, which is a bi-level version of the CASV-M, with which you can use any rail mounted front sight.

The FS is out, sorry. CASV-M is in but the FS have been out and on B/O at VLTOR for a while.
