I believe this new rail is available only on complete rifle.

Joe told me this morning that you do need to remove the barrel nut but once the Omega is installed it can be removed the same way as the current Omega. I don't know if that means it uses the Lite Rail/RIS II nut or not

So that means you have to remove the FSB.

It looks like a 2-piece system, like the original Omega, so I don't think you have to remove the FSB. But, as mentioned above, looks like it's available only on the complete rifle (at this time).

If you don't remove the FSB, you're cutting the barrel nut.

Anyone know if DD will be offering a standard FSP Omega as a rail only?

The Omega X 12.0 FSP does require pulling your Front Sight Base for initial installation. This rail system uses a proprietary barrel nut (Same as the RIS II and AR15 Lite Rails. Once installed, the rail system can be easily removed with out any special tools or gunsmithing.

It will be available seperatley down the road. But for now they are being dedicated to complete rifles.

Because some folks have a hard time hearing that they spent $1000 on a rifle that is just "ok." They thought they were buying the most tacticool fire-spitting EBG in the whole world!

I know that when I first looked at The Chart, I gave a kinda "ah crap." But what the heck. It's been fun trying to upgrade the Bushy to something more acceptable while saving to get that next really cool rifle that's all squared away.
