It will be available seperatley down the road. But for now they are being dedicated to complete rifles.
Just to be clear, if you replace the stock barrel nut with a proprietary one, how do you get the old nut off without removing the FSB?

The answer was in the quote you posted.

After initial installation all you have to do to remove the rail is unscrew the bolts, like the Omega. The rail will then be removed. If you want to remove the barrel nut from the barrel, then the FSB and muzzle attachment must be removed, at least that is what I would assume based upon the pictures and previous discussion.

I hope that DD offers the new upper and lower for sale as individual complete components, like LMT does. It would sure make it easier to get one. Comming up with 1,500+ all at once could be rough for me and it would be cheaper if it sold in two parts (less tax).

I am officially on board for this one. This rail is just what I have been wanting, a 12 inch Omega! Pretty cool that I get a full DD rifle as a bonus. Great price too.
    ETA- Couple of weeks.

I look forward to hearing what others think when this rifle hits the scene.

I bought a DDM4 about a month ago, and finally got it out to break her in last weekend at an EAG course. I had one malf attributable to an old training mag. How do I know it was the mag? When I cleared the type 2 malf and dropped the mag on the deck, rounds spewed out the top. Through about 1100-1200 rounds the carbine ran like a champ with standard M193 and old GI training mags, some with the black followers. I replaced the grip with a MIAD and used a BFG two-point sling. I used an eoturd 512 with a GG&G base off the bushmaster I sold to buy the DDM4; it held zero well enough. I used a lot of slip 2000 EWL lube and did not clean it throughout the class. One warning, however: do not use the notches in the VFG to torque down the cap; it will break. The cap felt loose and I was afraid it would come off during firing so I tried to torque it down and heard a nice little "crack" under a little force, but it was not broken enough to make it inoperable. I cannot say enough good things about this rifle.

If the barrel nut is proprietary, does it accept any of the other current DD rails?

I love this gun too, the ONLY complaint I have and it is kinda of big for me right now, is that the take down pins are a PAIN to get out. I have to use a solid and a hammer to drive them out. This is a biggie for me as I cannot field strip it without tools. I like to be able to do this fast to get inside my guns. This folks, is why looser is better in my opinion.
Any advice on how to remedy this?
    Thanks.

Being only slightly sarcastic, I'd say "entropy."

By and large, tight takedown pins tend to be a self-solving problem, with use. So long as you don't need a 2# mill hammer or Monty Python's 16 ton weight block to beat them out, they'll take care of themselves.

I was hoping this as well, but again, I have never had a rifle with such tight take down pins that remained tight after a few hundred rounds. I have to still use a punch and hammer to get the pins out and I have almost 500 rounds through it. I am going to run it in a class next weekend and I hope that will help.
