    Front sling swivel placement

What's the purpose of locating the front sling swivel/mount at the rear of the handguard i.e. in front of the mag well? Thanks.

If you mount a light on the 9 o'clock rail, a forward placed sling point will interfere with the operation of the light.

That made sense. Thanks. Any other benefit?

shorter overall sling length. doesn't interfere with the support hand since it's located behind it when you hold the weapon.

    Chicks dig it.

Seriously, it really clears up your support hand area. That's biggest benefit I've noticed since moving my sling there.

I'm in the minority. My support hand would be free to hold the handguards when shooting, but when loading/unloading, a sling mount at the area of the delta ring puts the sling right in my way.
