I actually cam across one of the hollow LMT sights not too long ago. It isn't cast at all, but they mill out the body of the sight?

To me it seems like negligible weight savings for an extra machining step.

I purchased this one from a seller on ebay. It looks legit to me, but I don't know for sure. And from all this reading about there being some pretty elaborate forgeries out there, I would like to get some opinions from those who know what to look for. Like I said in my earlier post, the elevation knob clicks about 3 above 6/3 "Big-gap" before it tops out. It's been so long since I worked with an A2 rear that I don't remember if this is normal. It does bottom out at 6/3 "Small-gap". Here are pics:

That one is legit, the knob on the side is staked. And I think the other way to tell is to flip it over and look at the screw for the knob. If its threaded all the way across its a fake, if its real the screw will be smooth across the underneath. Not 100% sure on that though, but the knob being staked in picture #3 with the X for sure makes it that one real.

    He's talking about this...

As I understand it, a fake wouldn't have that staking which would allow you to completely unscrew the thumb screw.

with all due respect sir, airsoft is airsoft and i guess we will have to live with that fact. its up to us to get the correct stuff and not be fooled. airsoft items never forced themselves for real steel, its our side who went to them looking for a cheaper alternative which is a big mistake.

Right. However, I was referring to what he had mentioned about the threading, or lack thereof, on the mounting screw underneath.

Yes. I am not 100% sure, but I think I remember seeing a picture of a fake one that was threaded all the way across the bottom. You have nothing to worry about though, that LMT buis you have is legit. I have a couple of the LMT buis and mine all go a few clicks past the 6/3 too. I would not worry about it.

If it goes a click or two past 6/3 and that bothers you, you could adjust it for IBZ or RIBZ. Setting up for either of those has you changing the number of clicks needed to bottom it out anyway. Some even build that buffer into their IBZ or RIBZ setup.

I used this thread to setup my irons.

Interesting. My LMT sight doesn't have the tick marks in the rear for the windage adjustment.

    /edit to add pics.
