    Trijicon TR24 Accupoint Recticle Options

I am considering purchasing the Trijicon Accupoint TR24 and would like to gather additional information on the recticles before I end up having to "buy one of each" to figure out what scope recticle my eyes like better.
I am looking at the TR24G (Illuminated Green Triangle) and TR24-3G (Illuminated German #4 Crosshair).
Does it just boil down to a matter of personal opinion as to what recticle is easier to use or is there a benefit to one over the other for specific shooting applications such as 25-50 yard shooting applications vs 200-300 yard shooting applications? I am looking for an all-around scope that has the ability to aim close targets quickly and easily and also utilize the 4x power for 200-300 yard shooting. The Accupoint TR24 looks to fit the purpose well but I am not sure about the choice of recticle.
I'm looking for opinions of the benefits of the German #4 Crosshair vs the Green Triangle. What say you?

A lot of it comes down to subjective opinion, so bear that in mind, but....

The crosshair has a very small illuminated dot in the center. It lends itself more to precise fire but I don't think it would be as fast. I would choose the crosshair if the rifle's primary use was in a more precision oriented role -- spending most of it's life at 4x and firing at smaller more distant targets.

The triangle is larger and brighter. I think it would be a better choice on a 0-200 yd. fighting carbine spending most of it's life at 1x and being operated in a more "point-click on center mass" fashion. The larger recticle covers more target but zeroing at the top point and practicing to know your zero at various ranges and it's actually pretty versatile.

In short, my opinion is that in the 1-4x the triangle is better suited to a general purpose fighting carbine carbine. I think the crosshair would be a great choice in one of the higher power (3-9x or 2.5-10x) Accupoints on a SPR-ish style rifle.

Your reasoning makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the feedback.

I will agree, the triangle is faster than the German #4 IMO. I've been running the 1-4X with green triangle (tan Colt in the other thread) and it's great for close up work.

Does anyone know if someone mackes an attachment for the magnification adjustment to allow for quicker adjuistment, kind of like on the IPSC guns but with a lower profile.

What Optic mount are you using for the TR24G so I can order it ahead of time?

    LaRue LT-104

I have used the 1.5" and 1.93" versions. Both work but I prefer the 1.93", allows me to keep my head upright.

Do you think the regular or forward extended mount would work best for the eye relief on this scope and a user who prefers to be nearly nose to charging handle?

Does anyone know which, the 1.5 or 1.93, centers the optic closest to the height of the iron sights. I'm assuming trying to match this would be a good idea since most of my trigger time involves working at that height.

It could be a toss-up, I run pretty close to the charging handle and have no issues with the standard LT-104 mount. You may want to try the SPR-E and experiment.

    bullitt,
Do you have a quantitative # as to the difference in eye relief between the TR21 and the TR24?

    Dr. Baker,
If schedules allow, you're welcome to check out my TR21 sometime. Might give you an idea of what you'd think of the 24.
