I have decided to put a TR24 on one of my 6920's. I was wondering what would be the better color for quick aquisition. I can't decide whether to go Green or the amber. Both would seem quiker to pick up on against a dark backgroun than the red. Maybe somebody that had all three color would care to pontificate.![]()
Amber theoretically (according to Trij) is the easiest color for the eye to see. Green comes in a close second.
That said many people (including those whose judgment I respect) complain about "washout" of the reticle in bright light and dawn/dusk.
I've found that if you close the fiber-optic cover during these times, the reticle turns a very dark brown and can be seen quite easily so I've got no complaints about the amber.
It's all about your preferences.

The green is much brighter than surrounding foliage
the green performs better in low/nolight with white lights
the green is much faster to pick up of various backgrounds and clothing with littel to no blending in
Your call i went with green after running all 3 versions
I'm sold on green; can't wait for these things to become available.

This would make a good poll as I know lots of shoots will gravitate to this optic. Everybody from 3 gun guys to combat operators are on the edge of their seats waiting for this one to be fully released. I mean, for the price compared to the Aimpoint series you get a lot more band for your buck IMO and I'm like and own Aimpoint Products.
Choosing something as important as reticle style and color is a faith based act with a most of these Optics. Unless you go to a lot of 3 gun shoots, or something like Knob or the Georgia Silencer Shoot, you never really get hands on experience with this stuff. I know I've shot the Red Chevron on the 3X and 4x Trijicon Acogs and it showed up pretty good. I wonder if I should just go with the Red which is a known quantity for years now in Trijicon Optics.
I just got off the phone with Trijiconand the tech guy over there (yeah, I know) said the amber seems to be the ticket for most of the folks over at Trijicon at least. He says everybody just want the green because its the new thing. But, since all they have is the Amber maybe they're just saying that to sell the optics that they have right now. Also, even though I want one of these TR24's right now, maybe its a good idea to see if they are goona have any teething problemos befor buying one right out of the shoot ( pun intended).

I'd say that this can cut both ways. Why would a company produce a product that their customer base has little/no demand for? If they're producing Amber first, it's probably because there is the more demand for that color.
These optics are so rare that I doubt they'll have any trouble selling the amber even if the green has more demand in the end.
I'd concur the interest in green has more to do with new/different than any qualitative advantage.

Green has alot to do ith how we seen colors as humans.
the science has been done over and over and green is the one we see best in the spectrums
and has been played with for some time yet in various optics
I for one was one of those whom pushed hard for green with trijicon, it was a natural call
there color of green seprates itself well in foilage and in low light its much easier to pick up with white lights after i took many shot house runs with both green and red reticles.
