Old Farmer Joe was injured in a traffic accident when a tractor-trailer semi ran a red light and hit his truck broadside in the right passenger door.
After enduring excruciating pain for 2 weeks he went to the hospital where x-rays revealed four broken ribs and a dislocated hip. When he was released from the hospital, he contacted a law firm and was advised to sue the trucking company.
When his day in court finally arrived, the defense attorney for the trucking company put Farmer Joe on the stand and posed the question .......
"Didn't you tell the state trooper on the scene of the accident that you were fine ?"
Farmer Joe answered, "Well ya see I just got my mule Ol' Bessie on my truck ......"
The lawyer stopped him ....."Please just answer the question; we don't want to hear the details. Did you or did you not tell the trooper that you were fine ?????"
Joe responded, "It's like I'm tryin' ta tell ya ....... I put Ol' Bessie in my truck ......."
The lawyer addressed the judge at that point and asked ........ "Will your Honor please instruct the witness to answer the question???? It is my belief that he fell at home and suffered his injuries; now he's attempting to assign liability to my client."
The judge told the lawyer that he wanted to hear Joe's story and to let him continue with his explanation. So Joe continued .........
"After I put Ol' Bessie on the truck, I was drivin' down the road when this big ol' tractor-trailer ran the red-light and t-boned me in the passenger side. I was thrown outta the truck & landed in a ditch on the side of the road and hurt real bad ........ poor Ol' Bessie was layin' in the middle of the road moanin' & a groanin'."
He continued ....... "A state trooper soon showed up & he heard Ol' Bessie a moanin' & a groanin' too. He took a long look at her, pulled out his gun and shot her right between the eyes. Then he came over to me with gun still in hand and said ......."I'm sorry sir, but your mule was hurt so bad I had to shoot it ........... Are you OK, sir???? Are you in any pain????"
" NOW WHAT THE HELL WOULD YOU SAY ????????"
