I believe that mount was developed for use on machine guns, so very fine accuracy may not be absolutely necessary.

Is there a set set screw where I circled in red and if so, what is its purpose?

I've thought that there might be a few problems with the HK elevated upper rail, but those of you with experience please let me know if I am wrong.

    1. That BUIS when down looks like it would be hanging around just waiting to get hit and break off without any support from the upper receiver underneath.

    2. Also, wouldn't the elevated rail screw up your cheek weld for most of your optic mount choices? With the lower one third optics, wouldn't that put your cheek weld out of reach?

    3. I know there are specific optic mounts and BUIS that were designed with this elevated rail in mind, but aren't they pretty limited right now? Which I'm sure the options would diversify once HKs stuff hit the market though.

    4. But with the shorter optic mounts designed for the HK, doesn't that limit options for putting stuff (ex. PEQ) on the rail in front of the optic? Or does it just lower the optic to absolute cowitness height like an eotech and everything would be fine?

Very difficult to take picture with the rifle on a black background wall. plus the lighting isn't the best for camera work...but never the less, Magpul always sport a very cool display.
