With identical ACOG models which color reticle shows up better, or what is the advantage of green over red? I've used the amber and know I prefer red over amber already. That might be because I'm used to red with Aimpoints, EOtechs, DR's., NightForce, etc.

All very good points. My similar thought process has resulted in this configuration for a fighting carbine. Note the TA33 + MRD combination weighs considerably less than a Short Dot or other variable optic on a LT mount.

How hard or how long did it take you to easily make the transition from the Acog to the D.D. mounted Aimpoint? I've seen three gun USPSA shooters do it with similar set ups . Though I figured it would take a few thousand rounds or more to get used to the set up.
