    VTAC Surefire?

Did anyone get to play with this new light at SHOT? Opinions?
How about a timeline for availability for these and pricing?

    Thanks,
    Jason

The VTAC L4 light is available now and is on sale in a combo pack for $169.

If you have the opportunity to handle an E2DL, this will be identical to the high output level - same optic, same LED, same head, same output (single mode driver rather than dual mode - KX2C head specs are here). I have an early model E2DL that actually shipped with a single level head - basically, the same as the VTAC light, but with a strike bezel. It will live on my AR as soon as I get my upper.

Is this L4 setup better than famous G2? I am buying my first weapon light and trying to do some research. I was getting ready to hide in the closet from the wife with the credit card and order a G2L/VTAC combo and now this thread appears on my computer screen...

    Kentucky Cop:

    Just do it!

If I hadn't finally assembled my "perfect" light setup (G2L/E1B), I would be opting for the VTAC light.

I would say that the VTAC combo would make an excellent setup. All the benefits of the E2DL, with none of the drawbacks.

If the wife finds out, I will just tell her the "Landlord" told me too!

It's an excellent set up and price.

You are basically getting a surefire scout light in an offset mount, performance wise. This is a light I kinda wish surefire made as is.

    Hey Kentucky Cop,

I just got my L4-VTAC combo last week. It is a pretty sweet light. Time will tell with the mount as it is some type of polymer but it is rock solid when mounted.

I was running a surefire M910A fore grip light on my patrol rifle but after a week long carbine course, I decided that I wanted an above barrel light for shooting around/over barricades and resting the weapon on things to shoot. I am sure that my opinion and reasoning are up for debate but that is not my intention, just to mention that I got the set up your looking at and like it a lot. Plus, if you decide you don't like it you still have a sweet ass flashlight.

But, if your stuck on a surefire scout, botach.com (no affiliation) just sent an email today with the scouts on sale for 350.00.

    good luck,
    John

Thanks John! I was just torn between the VTAC G2L and the L4 Combo. The price is right on both for sure.

I had been checking these VTAC L4 setups out for a few days and finally bought one yesterday. I am anxiously awaiting it to arrive. I will post my finding when I get it. Info from this post helped me make my decision...
