From your initial description of yourself & the anticipated uses for the rifle, you should investigate the new Savage precision rifles which have AR-ish grips & adjustable stocks. When you can outshoot a Savage then spend the big bucks if you still want to.

Yea, $1850 is more than I expected. Hadn't seen the MSRP when I replied to you.

I just took a look at that Savage, and I must say I like it. AR grip and stock, seems perfect. There is alot of options for that rifle. They will get some of the AR crowd with that rifle. The only problem is an 1850.00 MSRP price, hoping that is high and they will be sell for alot less. Is a Savage worth that kind of money? I can pick up an AICS stock and a Remy LTR for that price. Everyone seems to rave about how good the AICS stocks are and how their Beeding blocks and detach mags are the way to go. The LTR has got great reviews from people in the know. Everyone seems to say that the LTR is a .5 gun out of the box, plus I can sell the HS Precision stock on the gun and pay for rings and a little towards a base.
It will be intersting to see some of the reviews on the new Savage and does anyone have a Remy LTR, AICS combo they care to comment about?

I've seen LTR's (and PSS's too) that shoot quite wel out of the box., though they typically need at least some minor trigger work to be really sweet. I had mine in an AICS stock and it shot great. The nice thing about the Rem 700 platform is that (like an AR) there are all kinds of upgrades available and many good gunsmith's who are very familiar with them.
