PWS FCS556 no good for duty/SWAT?

I'm in the process of completing my order for an upper build, that will be a duty/SWAT rifle. After doing alot of reading I thought that I was set on a PWS FCS 556 to be p/a to a 14.5 inch Noveske barrel with 14 inch DD rail. (yes I understand the 14' is added weight, I just like the look, sorry)

But when I sent this request to a well known and respected builder, he said that he had accuracy issues with the PWS, and did not recommend it to be p/a on a 14.5. He said that if I had to have it that it would be better on a 16' barrel, so now I'n confused, because from what I've read everyone said the PWS was gtg.

I can't see how it would cause accuracy issues on a 14.5 but not so on a 16'.

So anyone have any input on this?

    Thank you for any help.

I am running one on a Colt 6920 with a 16-inch barrel. The only thing I have noticed is that it does not hide the flash as well as a friend's Smith Vortex.

But it was never designed to.

It does basically eliminate any muzzle rise. None. Nada. Zip. Zero. Zilch. That is what is is designed to do, and does quite well. I get a slightly-faster followup on my second shot.

And it still more accurate than my tired old over-50 eyes can shoot.

I would ask gotM4 (Robb) what he thinks. He installed the PWS556 on mine, and it's ever so sweet.

Thank you for your service, and stay safe.

Hello All, I bought the pws fcs 556 break/flashhider. Have had no problems but the blast is terrible. About twice or more than the standard bird cage flash/hider. Other than that I have experienced no accuracy problems.

I put one on a 14.5 LMT upper, which I put together to be a close of my work gun.
I actually kinda regret putting it on. Why? It's too good. Dot bounce is more like a wobble.

I get more than adequate accuracy out of it at 50 yards with M193 and an Aimpoint- about 2 to 3 MOA 10 shot groups from a barely supported sitting, which is on the good side of average in my experience with mil M4s. While there may be some deterioration of accuracy I have not seen it, and frankly when dealing with CQB distances, there isn't much difference between a 6 MOA gun and a 2 MOA gun anyway (.6 inch group vs .2 inch group at 10 yards), and I would be shocked if it turned a 2 MOA gun into a 5 MOA gun.

I thought that you were going to be worried about the noise level, given the thread description. FWIW- it is louder than an A2 FH, but not obnoxious. I positioned myself around a buddy of mine while he was shooting it, and while I was pretty close (3 to 9 feet), it wasn't nearly as bad as other comps I have used.

So far I haven't seen anyone with accuracy complaints other that the nameless "respected builder". Unless this builder is John Noveske personally talking about his barrels and the PWS, I would not worry about it. However, if it is indeed John, I would pay attention and try to gather some more information.

I have one on my Colt 6721 lower w/PWS piston conversion on it's 6920 upper.

With Black Hills MK262 Mod 1 it groups under .75" at 50yds while using a FSC556. I do use a peel washer instead of a crush washer so YMMV.
