For the most part no. In my experience I find that peel washers ensure that the flash hider/comp/brake keeps the barrel accurate. I don't know if it's a barrel harmonics thing or how well the muzzle device fits the barrel threading or what. Using peel washers and Rocksett you can install the muzzle device with very little torque which does maintain accuracy.

What, do you mean like a PRI break on your 6.8?

Like you said, it is a carbine, your not exactly talking a bolt gun here. I don't see how it could possibly effect the accuracy that much (or enough most shooters can shoot anyway) given there is nothing even touching the round as it leaves the barrel (unlike some cans I have seen). But I am no expert, just my opinion.

I've done only limited firing with the PWS556, but I didn't notice any accuracy issues. A group of us from work recently did a group buy from HDI; 9 guns in total and I don't think any two are the same. At a recent range day I fired or witnessed the firing of the following:

    (Overcast, mid-day, around 40 degrees)

    1. 14.5" with Vltor F/S
    2. 14.5" with Vortex F/S
    3. 14.5" with PWS556 comp
    4. 16" with A2 F/S (several actually)
    5. 16" with Vortex F/S

We did not do any formal accuracy testing - other than a quick BZO. It wasn't dark enough to tell any discernible difference in F/S capabilities on anything other that the PSW556. With the overcast conditions a very minimal flash signature was present; whereas the others had none. Regarding blast from the PWS, as the shooter and from the sides I did not discern any notable difference. I did not do any formal accuracy shooting, but from 25-50 yards I hit everything I aimed at from the off hand. I thought the accuracy was more than acceptable. Where the PWS shines is with muzzle rise. The minimal recoil of the 5.56 is still present, but it's like a laser, it just doesn't move.

The PWS equipped rifle I shot was a friend's so I didn't put many rounds through it, but I would have no reservations about having one on a personal rifle. I was very impressed.

For what it's worth the only detraction, if it even is one, is the noticeable flash signature; which IMO for stateside LE purposes is a none issue.

my build is just finished. I opted for the DNTC break. .... accuracy was excellent. I shoot irons out to 50yards. im getting half inch groups. will have to shoot further next time. and this is with crappy ammo.
