A bird invasion is low on my list of realistic threats, so I have my bird gun locked up. A shotgun does nothing better than a carbine in the bump in the night scenario.... Nothing.

    Does nothing better?

    1. More trauma per shot.
    2. Less penetration through walls.
    3. More desirable in court case than an SBR MP5 or AK47
    4. Less of loss if stolen from house than an NFA weapon (MP5 clone) or AK which cost $900.00 verses a $300.00 shotgun.
    5. Easier MOA for wife.

I hope you are not serious about the shotty doing nothing better for home defense than a carbine.

So, back on topic a little....

You got a pic of how your dual lights are setup on your carbine mark?

i'm with Katar on this one. i'm still debating on getting a second light on the carbine. i do train to use the light on my carbine while employing a handgun w/o a light, in the instance that my carbine fails and my secondary does not have a light.

as for markm's comment, i have to somewhat agree. oregonshooter, to me, the ONLY thing that matters when you're in a bad situation is ACCURATE, RAPID, and LETHAL shot placement. the cost of replacing my firearm is a non-issue, neither is my court case. having to replace my wife (because i couldn't take a shot on the bastard holding her captive with my shotty) is a non-issue as well. i'll take the M4 everytime as well

also, my buddy carries this vltor mount on his belt carried e2d. he uses it just like a regular light, and it's also his backup for his carbine mounted light (if he's got the opportunity to replace it, mid-mission)

also, if i had the time, i'd could take the x300 off of my pistol and put it on my carbine. the pistol flops around the holster alot, but i'd rather have my carbine running at optimum capacity than my pistol

I gotta admit the RC rig is calling me to try it out with the EDC gun having a gun mounted light. Without a mounted light on the secondary I would rather pull the pocket light out and continue with the primary myself.

I assume above you are talking about transitions to an unlit handgun when the primary is down but its light is still functional?

We will agree to disagree. The carbine shines in the above mentioned areas, the shotty shines in what I said. Its a trade off that I'm willing to take. My situation is no kids, wife that works same shift and schedule except for one day a week so hostage situation is next to nil. There is plenty of pre warning security also for home invasion scenarios.

Would you say its a design issue in the end placement to the muzzle on the x300 or would the problem exist on a X3 also?

I'm considering the X300 as a light for the G17.

One on the long gun, one on my gear, or belt (depends if I am in full battle rattle) and one on my handgun.

The second light on the gun is IMHO taking it a little too far.

    1. Debatable
    2. FALSE...this has to be the biggest myth regarding handguns and shotguns.
    3. Shouldn't matter if it was a justified shooting and you have a competent lawyer
    4. Lock it up when you leave?
    5. Also debatable but admittedly subjective

Shotgun to me is a breaching or Less lethal tool - using it as a Home Defense gun is very very foolish in my mind.
