a couple of my recent builds

Here are a couple of my recent builds. I used the midlength carbine at a Pat Rogers carbine course in Albion, MI this past weekend. It ran flawlessly except for a few type-1 malfunctions due to the worst lot of XM-193 I think that I’ve ever gotten. The M4gery was my back-up, which I didn’t need.

I’d like to say that it’s always a pleasure to train with Pat and the staff of EAG.

Both had several hundred rounds through them before the class, though I did consider them unproven. I totally trust the midlength now.

    Midlength-
    LMT factory lower receiver with:
    - Bushmaster trigger from a spare LPK (replacing the LMT 2-stage that “failed” during last years class, it was fixed by LMT but I figured I go with a single stage on this)
    - Vltor stock
    - Magpul MIAD grip
    - Magpul trigger guard
    CMT upper receiver with:
    - Denny’s Guns 16” midlength “Operator” barrel
    - LaRue Tac 9.0 rail
    - KAC M4 QD Comp (because I like the traditional look of an A2 but wanted something better)
    - Young Mfg./LBC chrome carrier
    - CMT bolt and bits
    - H buffer
    - PRI Gas Buster charging handle (because it’s robust)
    - Troy Gen III rear sight
    - Aimpoint ML2 on KAC mount
    - KAC VFG and panels (though I think that I’m going to try a TD VFG on this)
    - CQD front sling mount
    - Wilderness 3-point sling mod’d into an Israeli-type 2-point

    M4gery-
    LMT Factory lower receiver with:
    - Gapper
    CMT upper receiver with:
    - Colt M4A1 “SOCOM” barrel
    - Colt bolt and bits
    - full auto bolt carrier
    - PRI Fat Boy gas tube (I’ve heard all the debate, it works and it’s not the only one I have)
    - H buffer
    - Sabre Defense extended A2 flash hider (perm attached w/ silver solder)
    - PRI “Military” latch on standard charging handle
    - KAC 300m BIS
    - KAC RAS, VFG and panels
    - EOTech 552 on LaRue Tac mount

I’m going to put a front side sling swivel and a Colt CAR stock (from Boom) on the weapon and also take off the CQD receiver end plate for a more authentic M4gery.

A big +1 to EOTech for fixing issues on their sights. My revision D 552 is recently back from Ann Arbor because of a wandering windage issue. Typical I know, but it’s impressive for a company to bring older models up to current spec like they do.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I’m really happy with them both. And even though my weapons always seem to be evolving somewhat, I think that these will stay pretty close to this configuration. Maybe the midlength will get painted, maybe. I’ll try some tan/coyote/brown rails and grips on it first.
