    Finger on the Trigger

My wife is a massage therapist and often talks with her clients while giving a massage. Today one of her regular clients came in and told her about going to an Air Force base for a ceremony honoring her dad and while on base they were escorted everywhere by an armed guard. The strange part was that she said that the had ak47s (which I think she just mistook for M16s) and the whole time they were escorting they had the muzzle pointed at the ground with their finger on the trigger. Even when she was escorted to the bathroom the fingers were on the trigger.

Now I've taught my wife about trigger control so she thought that the fingers on the trigger sounded strange so she specifically asked if they actually had their fingers on the trigger the whole time and her client said yes. Apparently my wives client knows a few things about guns, and should be able to tell when a finger is on the trigger. So now I'm puzzled. Is this normal for the Air Force? It just sounds bizarre to me and goes against everything I've read and heard.

    No

Firearm safety is stressed in the classroom, on the range, and daily in the field.

Well, if the client did not know the difference between an AK and an AR then she might not have know the difference between having one's finger "on" the trigger and having it along side the receiver....
