Correct and I don't know why you would want to use them at the same time.

No. When you drop to your irons, the Red Dot will move to the tip of your Front Sight Post... or somewhere close... and you'll effectively have an absolute co-witness as far as your eye is concerned.

The RDS is paralax free to an extent.

It depends on what you are talking about. Can you still see the dot in your sight picture in a lower 1/3 co-witness? Yes. Is it in the optimal spot to use along with your irons? No.

*Note; there are lots of variances in the height of mounts so it might even a case by case type thing based on your optic, optic mount and iron sights used.

Yeah.. if you look through the irons, you're "pulling" the dot down, but it'll look just like an absolute cowitness.. just in the bottom part of the tube.

I get it now. Thanks Mark. You too Grant. Mark explained it better but I still buy most of my stuff from you. You just sent me a Magpul ACS-L for my latest build.

I have a aimpoint M4s mounted absolute with fixed DD rear and a standard FSP. I can look over my irons or through them.
