    45gr JHP in .223?

I recently received a couple free boxes of Winchester .223 rounds from an old friend who doesn't shoot anymore. They're 45gr JHP with an average velocity listed as 3600 fps. Does anybody know anything about these rounds? How might they shoot from the AR platform since they're HPs? I'm worried about feed problems as well as accuracy. Anyone have any experience with them?

They'd probably work well for varmints but I wouldn't use them for self-defense or duty. Not enough penetration. They'd probably be most accurate out of 1-12 thru 1-9 barrels.

3600fps!!!!!!!! DO NOT use these in a 5.56NATO or .223Rem chambered rifle!!

They are only for use with a Wylde chamber!!

If you don't have a Wylde chamber, contact me via PM and I will find a home for them.

I repeat DO NOT shoot these rounds! Send them to me.

    Don't listen to Cameron - that's absurd.

The WWB 45gr JHP is one of the most accurate factory loads around. I've had very good experiences with them, and I've heard the same over the last 4 years from many others while moderating the AR15.com ammo forum.

Fired from a 1/12 twist .gov profile 20 inch Colt barrel the actual chronographed velocity was 3350 fps, es 59. From a 1/7 twist Colt HBAR 20 inch barrel they clocked 3379 fps, es 94. From a 1/12 twist Rem 700VS with 20 inch barrel they clock 3353 fps, es 79.

Would you be so kind as to post some pictures of your Colt barrel with the "C MP 5.56 NATO 1/12" barrel stamp?
