They are as ruged as the rest of the aimpoint line they just dont come with lense covers and they are 15 ft deep waterproof.

It's an intriguing option especially for the price. I like that's it lightweight as the T-1 was just too tiny when I got to play with one.

Is there a preferred mount combination that works best or is a good value?

Why the C3 over something like the ML3 or ML2?

A C3 in mount is $450 from G&R. It is as waterproof as it needs to be, and a great value at that price.

I'm less worried about the waterproof part than the lighter weight translating into less ruggedness if say one drops the weapon. This concern might be overstated as I don't have extensive experience/knowledge of aimpoints as a whole.

I had an M2 which I didn't like that much, but I was exclusively shooting FALs at the time. I shot an M4S on a Pat Rogers LWRC for a few days at a class and while I like it, I'm not sure I've mastered it and the AA battery was about the biggest advantage I can see to it.

I need an RDS for one of my ARs so I'll eventually get an Aimpoint, but I only want to buy once. I was torn between the ML3 and the H-1 when I came across the C-3.

The C-3 is 20 grams less than the ML3, and that's made up by the lens covers the ML3 comes with that the C3 omits.

Thanks Rob, I was going by the Aimpoint website which called it the "lightest scope in its class". It's one of those things which makes you wonder what that actually means and prompted my question

I am interested in why you think the T-1 was just too tiny...

With both eyes open use it does not really matter how big the tube is. And the T-1 is so much lighter it is not funny.

My neighbor had an M3 on one gun already and just got a T-1 and likes it so much more...

The statement was based on personal preference for one over the other, nothing more. In thinking about it though it was mounted pretty far forward so that probably factors in.

I'm more experienced with the larger ones and as I said even that is relatively limited and I'm not even sure I've even mastered the standard size. Generally speaking I'm more comfortable with magnified optics, but for certain applications there are too many advantages to an RDS to ignore and I've been strongly considering an H-1.

There are a lot of really good shooters I respect a lot that love the design. I'm sure with a little practice it wouldn't be a big deal.

There is no right or wrong answer, I was just wondering as when all is said and done they should be used the same way and you should not notice a difference when using them...

    Thanks for the answer
