    dawson rail

i have been thinking a long time about getting a dawson rail installed on my springfield 1911. question is, they say it will still fit most holsters, anybody got experience with sidearmor holsters. this is what i carry off duty and its made of quality kydex. i love the holster and dont want to get the rail if it means i have to compromise with my gear.

Kydex seems to have the biggest issue - odds are you need a different holster if it's a one-peice mold. I've seen it work the the two-peice pancake styled holsters that are held together, but not the single peice.

The cheaper holster don't seem to have a problem, and obviously the custom ones don't either.

If you need a light for patrol, and want minimum profile removed, then the DP light rail is THE choice, so consider the advantages offered if you end up having to get another holster (and then treat that as a cost of adding the rail and light)
