Third blackrifle first time full custom build. Comments appreciated.

I recently purchased a new Bushmaster model M4A3 14.5" making it my third blackrifle. The other two being a pre-ban colt Hbar and a pre-ban Colt m4 carbine. I decided it was time to build a custom rifle after years of iron sight shooting so i'm interested in optics among other accessories.

Looking for advice applying to customization.

After some hands on use I want to go with an EOtech optics setup. The only problem is there are over 20 holographic red dot sights to pick from. I also want to use a 3x magnifier in conjunction with the red dot for increased range.

My real question is ... can anyone make a suggestion as to what red dot and what magnifier I should go with. Here are my currently made choices..

-Do not need night vision option
-Must be the compact version using the shorter batteries
-Must be side button version (for use with magnifier)
-Magnifier must be the FTS version (flip to side)

Can anyone help me with model selection? Im great with my irons but new to optics.
I thank you in advance for your time helping with this!

I'm like you, pretty much new to all of this. I have a S&W MP15, and the wife went
with a Bushmaster. I wanted to have some fun and a challenge, so I put Leupold
3-9x40mm scopes on both, after removing the carry handles. Now we shoot at
200 yards. Both of us can pretty much put 3 or 4 out of 5 into a 4 inch circle.
Considering neither one of us had ever shot a rifle until early last November, we are
having a blast. Thanks Obama. Anyway, I am interested as well in answers to your question.

I know you said you want an Eotech, and I hate when people do this to me, but I can't resist asking; why aren't you considering an Aimpoint?

I just picked up a C-More Tactical alluminum and like it very much.

Question on the AimPoints, what is the small tube along the main body?
I save money using AMSOIL full synthetic lubricants. Do you?

Here is a picture of the C-More mounted. I am very happy with the looks/style of this piece. It is expensive as well, if your cheap I don't know what you could use that would not be Airsoft junk.

I have a Millet SP1 but it has not been on and used enough to see if it can hold zero. It was $100, so it is cheap... but I suspect it will turn out being airsoft quality garbage and a waste of $100.

I don't expect the C-More to be junk, for almost $450 it should be built well. Money USUALLY buys quality and craftsmanship.

The C-More fits down tight to the upper and lets you use the iron sights as back-up along with the red dot. Battery life is supposed to be hundreds of hours and the red dot brightness/size are variable by the "Click" knob.

That's the Aimpoint M4 which holds the AA battery.

Wow. I just put "C-More" into the search function and did some bash reading... and now I feel emberrassed that I actually put a picture up of a CARBON 15 Bushmaster and a C-More Alluminum tactical in the same photo.

    Like that country song goes....

    What was I thinking!

Who knew I had one of the worst guns you can buy with one of the worst optics on it!

Good thing I paid $625 for the entire gun/optic package... or I would really feel bad for myself!

I love using the EOtech after getting some hands on use at the range but I would be willing to consider pretty much anything that is quality built.

Read some of the EOTech threads and see if that changes your mind. I sold mine last year and I am happier for it.

FWIW I went with the EOTech 553 in FDE. I looked and looked and read and read and researched and,,,well you get the idea. It really ended up being a matter of price and personal preference for me. I don't kick in doors or serve felony warrants for a living. I gave the Aimpoints and ACOGS a good look as well. I will be getting one of each eventually.
