If yours is truly unfired, I'll trade you the 16" off my MRP for it, it's had less than 500 through it. I have a registered SBR lower I can put the 14" on. Both trade back if not satisfied?

I have a 16" piston...if it was DI, I'd trade ya for the 14.5" and pin a vortex on it. Just...pin your favorite FH on it and you are GTG. You'll have a nice, handy weapon once it's done, as short as you can get it w/o spending an extra $200.

Agreed, one of the initial reasons I got an MRP was the fact that I could run a 14.5" barrel with a pinned FH, and the barrel just pops right out, easy as pie. I was always wary (justified or not -- I know some folks don't mind and others advise against it) of permanently attaching a muzzle device on a barrel in a regular upper.

You also dont need to pin or weld the flash hider.

Silver soldering is accepted by the ATF as "permanent" attachment.

The benefit of silver soldering is that a gunsmith CAN non-destructively remove the hider if you ever change your mind.

Tempting. Mine is unfired. (Like rharris2163 I just got it from Rainier Arms --one of the best dang places to get AR gear, btw, service second to none.) I'll think about it. Right now I'm leaning towards just having a Vltor or Phantom or Noveske "Krink" FH welded and pinned on. Adcofirearms, recomended on this forum earlier, looks like they can do it for just $30, a heck of a deal. But, I'll let you know for sure which way I'm going to go with it after a few days. Thanks for the offer.

They don't have MRP barrels in stock, but if anyone is looking for an MRP Upper, Dynamic armament had them in stock earlier today as well as a 10" LMT M4 upper.

Thanks. I'll look at that too. It sounds better than a weld. Probably more cosmetically pleasing too.

FWIW, mine is pinned/welded and you can barely tell.

OK. Just a piece of free advice: I wouldn't put a KFH on a 14.5" barrel. I use one on my 10.5", but it doesn't add anything on a longer barrel but weight and length.

Give Norris a call at Grey Goose Gunsmithing. He usually has a couple MRP barrels in his shop. He is one of the good guys.

Tell him Kelly (owner of first Piston rifle he sold) said hello.
