I guess it depends on who made the barrel. If you get a Mike Rock CM/CL barrel, you are paying for his barrel making knowledge.

One big reason is demand... some other forums got people so whipped up in the must be chrome frenzy, that chrome lined barrels became a premium, and commanded premium prices.

HC plating does not add much to the cost of a barrel really, not much at all, but you have to be serious about it -- platers charge by the rack, it costs X amount to dip a rack, no matter how many barrels you send them to put in it.
