Rob, I have a 6" loop on the way, so I can try either A or B. Have you had further thoughts re: the loop putting undue pressure on the gas tube?

What sling is that, hossb7? That's the configuration I was looking at, but was concerned that the sling might be too long(run out of adjustment) in that position. That one looks good though.

I wouldn't be overly concerned about that. I've spoken to Rob about the UWL before, and that never came up as a potential issue.

Caveat: I haven't run this gun in a class or anywhere else that it is hanging for a full day between drills or anything.

I've been running this gun at the drills nights that I run. Which means that it's hanging for 3 hours+/- a night. I haven't seen any complications, and don't expect any. The exposed portion of the gas tube is very short and supported on the one side by the hole in the receiver. I believe it would shear off before it would bend or crush, and it would take a lot of force to shear off.

Good call on the 6" as I think it may be the better choice. I'm actually about to order one to replace the 3" that I think is too loose. The actual dimensions are something like 3.25" and 6.25" which means that a doubled-over 6" is smaller than a 3" and will hopefully fit a bit better.

That sling looks like a Vickers.

My personal preference is for an attachment at the last rail next to the receiver on the handguard on the support side, with a buttstock attachment on the strong side. This configuration allows easy transition from strong to support side and lets me fold the gun down during transition without hitting myself in the jaw/nose and keeps the sling out of my cheek-weld. My preferred transition technique may not be yours, so it might be transparent.

Here you go. Zak has many articles on his website. All are worth reading especially concerning optics and long range shooting. If my wife lets me I should get to shoot my new Noveske at his Multigun match Sat.

Thanks Everyone for all the great info!

Just rec'd my 6" wire loop, and as suggested, doubled over it's a great fit. I put it in the groove next to HG, which seems better than next to the receiver. Anyone who has standard HG owes it to themselves to spend $18 on it. Another vote for B-D being way better than A-D.

Not knowing exactly what a DD Xtreme sling is, but sight-unseen sounded like a great deal, so I bought it. Came with a nice 3-point sling, plus a DD rail mount, PLUS a sling mount endplate, all for $27. The rail mount was needed anyhow for AR #2.

So I'm gonna break the old staking, disassemble the CTR, and install the new endplate... it sounds like the B-C is worth trying, since I'm still not married to any of the slot positions on the CTR (top or rear).

Oh by the way, here's another good sling position thread: https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread...t=magpul+sling
