Here is what I did, after months of thinking about it:

If I could get this in an illuminated version I'd take a hard look at it for my purposes.

To me state of the art means less weight, better ergonomics, more durable, more reliable. It isn't about wholesale change.
The Douglas may be awesome but there are so many good cut and button barrels out there that it could just as easily be a Bartlein, Schneider, Rock, or a Krieger.
Trigger - Geissele. I can not say enough good things about the one I have.
FF - I still say for slung shooting, the shape of the Badger trapazoid FF is outstanding. However it is too heavy. Currently the DD Lite series is probably best of breed for railed FFs. I don't really buy into the need for mono platforms (VIS) to enhance accuracy. I think any in spec upper that is trued with a primo barrel is gonna shoot some tight groups at long distances. I also don't see any real reason to put a switch block or gas shut off valve on the system. You aren't gonna shoot sub sonic 5.56, and it isn't a gun for full auto - it is for precision. Shutting off / minimizing the gas has nothing to do with precision.
Stocks - a plain ol A2 is really pretty good for most postions; otherwise an E-Mod would be (is) my choice.
Mount - hard to beat a LaRue.
Optic - people can fight over that all day long. I can not say enough good things about an S&B 3-12x50 Gen2.
Here is what I am running:
Noveske Upper on a VIS
Colt lower with Geissele DMR
LaRue
S&B 3-12x50 Gen2
Surfefire 5.56K
Might want to take a look at this too then:

The Second Amendment ACKNOWLEDGES our right to own and bear arms that are in common use that can be used for lawful purposes. The arms can be restricted ONLY if subject to historical analogue from the founding era or is dangerous (unsafe) AND unusual.
It's that simple.

frbowers,
On your 18" Stealth, is that a mid length or a rifle length gas tube? WHat size groups are you getting at 100 yards?
Thanks

That is a mid-length gas tube. I only recently finished this rifle and have not been able to get out to the range with it yet. We are still in the middle of winter here in my part of Alaska and weather on the the weekends lately has not been cooperative. I plan to post range results once I get a chance.
