New photos of Tango Down's translucent mag

I just got these photos from Jeff at Tango Down. This is a good looking mag.

Nice to see some variety, but that big ridge/lip sure looks like it would be problematic in my mag pouches. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

They announced earlier it's to meet some SOCOM requirement to keep sand out of the magwell. Most versions will not have that nasty looking lip.

I thought the same thing when I first saw it.

I would like to try one, athough Im sure it will be great quality, like everything else he makes. Of corse they will have ups and downs at first. Hopefully I can get my paws on one soon.

Having one of those would make me want to only shoot pretty ammo.

Thats good - only "hot" ammo to be visable for peeping...

Actually this looks good from the pics - I assume those are reinforced feed lips and not just polymer. I love PMAGS, which break the mold if you ask me, but even the lancers have that steel insert.

Would LOVE to try them out.

The feed lips are just polymer. There are issues with making translucent polymer feed lips. Lancer uses the steel feed lips and Tango Down molds the upper half of the mag from the black material wich can handle heat better.

I think this is why Magpul has put their Tmag on hold. I think it is an issue with their translucent polymer feed lips taking the heat from full auto use.

I would like to see Magpul comment on the future of the Tmag or their approach to making a translucent mag that can handle full auto fire, but they usually don't say much about their future / potential offerings.

I hope the release the "lipped" mags as an option. I know they had said the civilian versions will not have the lip.

I just got military and commercial versions in black for T&E. I was hoping to have the new MSAR mags by now as well. I planned on doing a full blown poly mag review, but that may have to wait. I will run the T D mags this weekend.
