Just read over that page, it will give you some things to check. Don't go changing anything until you look over that page and get an idea on what stuff works better than others.

    ROADKING:

Not every S&W needs an H2 Buffer.
S&W AR's have a larger than normal gas port. So installing an H or H2 buffer will change will change the felt recoil and sloe down the bolt head speed.

    How old is your S&W?

58,XXX. I have had it since last March. The H2 does reduce felt recoil and works fine with brass cased ammo (Federal, Prvi, Rem. UMC, etc...), but does not want to cycle Wolf.

Roger that. I kind of figured that your AR was over a year old.

My smith is SN 61XXX. does that mean I should learn from his experience and just use an H buffer rather than an H2?? I thought all smiths had larger gas ports though so one would think that an H2 would be fine.

I would just buy an H2 and see if that runs. If not then just take apart the H2 and your CAR buffer and make an H1 from those. That way you only buy one buffer instead of an H1 and then later on decide to buy an H2.

I installed a H2 buffer in mine and it seams to be ok so far.

The older S&W AR's had some differences with them that actually created less gas pressure.

This is why a Car or H buffer are the MAX buffer they should have, while newer M&P's should use anything from an H to H3.

Grant I have S&W M&P 15X, sm20*** that my wife shoots, she is small framed and gets sore shooting a lot. It came with a carbine buffer, if I switched to a H or H1 buffer would she feel a signifigant reduction in recoil?

H & H1 are the same. Change out the SS buffer spring & add a CS spring along with an H2 buffer.
