Does anybody have any experience with the Surefire FA556AR? Surefire states that that part overlaps the barrel by 2.75" Does that 2.75" start at the tip of the mount or the base?
from the end of the muzzle
The man on top of the mountain didn't fall there.

While I'm pretty sure that's the case, all the correspondence was about the K model, then two 212's showed up.

I didn't realize there were internal differences that would suit me better with the model I originally intended to buy. Is it normal for you to substitute one for the other, even when all correspondence refers to one model?

I highly doubt that you got a 212 from us. Why do you ask? Because I have never ordered any 212's.

One thing to remember is that SF switched the naming convention on their cans and they now basically call ALL their cans are called 212. Which makes it all VERY confusing.

So the answer to your question is NO, if you ORDER a particular model, then you GET that model.

So the two cans I ordered from you that are marked FA556-212 with an RO prefix serial are actually K cans? I'm not trying to stir anything up, I'm genuinely curious as to the differences in the models and which ones I actually have.

And I'm pretty sure the payment for them went to you.

    Jeff, Grant and others:

Thanks for the "technical" help. Seeing people who actually use/sell this stuff and talk about things like point of impact shifts along with weight, price etc and all that really helps us can-newbies out!

Maybe when I get to a can-friendly area, I'll be able to explore this more...

Do some POI shift testing and you might figure out why the SF is worth the money.

My K can has about .5" shift at 100yds. I have NOT been able to get any other can to match that.

My AAC M42K MOD 8 is a close second with about a 1.5" shift. Soon I will test the AAC blackout and see what I get.

LOL, uhm no. Shoot 4 groups of 5 rounds with your can on. Mark the rounds fired. Take can off and shoot at the same four groups w/ 5 rounds each. Measure the difference. Take average.

If that is too much, just zero the weapon with the can on and shoot 10rds at a target. Remove can and shoot at a new target. Take average of groups (both times) and see how much shift you have.
All targets should be 100yds away.

The worst shift I have seen to date was 5 inches.
