    Which stripped lower to choose...

I'm wondering if it really matters, but which stripped lower should I use for a build? I can choose from:

    CMMG
    DPMS
    RRA
    S&W
    Stag

I personally am leaning towards the S&W, but aren't these all basically the same thing? What I am planning on putting together is a personal defense/fungun that can take some hard training if I need it to. Also, is there anything wrong with a RRA standard trigger parts kit? I also would add to it an ambi selector.

One more thing, is there a guide or a walk-through on this board somewhere on how to assemble the LPK? A link to one would be great.

None of those. If you want some good looking lowers, look at Territorial Gunsmiths, Charles Daly & Sun Devil.

    Where are you in OH?

With todays availability I'd say buy whichever one you can actually get your hands on.

    Thanks for the vids.

I'm not too concerned with looks, just reliability, durability, and cost.

I'm about 30 miles east of Cleveland.

I can get my hands on any of the ones I listed, I work at an FFL and the bossman likes to keep a stash of "hot" (as in popular, not stolen) items for personal/insider use.

At the Pat Rogers class I was at a little over a week ago, the guy with the Ambi Selector had it fall apart on day 1. I do not know how he had put it together or anything, but it was an object of scorn very quickly.

i dont remember where i got the batch of ambis i had, but they've all been run hard and operated without problem- they've got set-screws holding them in place inside the autosear cavity, rather than an external screw outside the receiver. i set 'em with blue loctite and turned until i felt i'd break the hex key.

look for the setscrew kind and be careful not to get loctite anywhere else in there.

If you plan on using Magpul P-mags in your lower , i would see how they fit before i would buy the lower. I had one of the above brands that my p-mags (old and the new Rev.) would not even insert into the magwell without just a little bit of sanding on the mags. I took both generation P-mags to the gunshop last week and tried them in ,some just in S&W stripped lowers and they fit perfect in all 10 of them.

RRA makes the internal screw type you are describing. I like it better than the external screw type. It was about $30 off the RRA site.

Why buy a stripped lower? It's not like LPK's are all over the place. If you are planing on having a complete weapon sooner rather than later, IMHO, it would be smarter to buy a complete LMT lower.

*If you are in no rush, I bought 3 CD stripped lowers from G&R that are very nice.
I have built 2.75 of them
