I met someone a few weeks ago that had a new Dane puppy. It was pretty big but not huge. She expects it to get bigger but apparently there is a variety that is a bit smaller? I've seen some that look like they need to be fitted for a saddle.

The local news is talking about some virus in dogs. Don't know if it's local or national. Haven't actually heard the story but something about the dogs die very shortly after they get the problem and vets are gearing up for it. Might want to research it. I'm not a dog person but have heard it all day long on radio and tv.

    ETA:
It's named ... and I know I must be spelling this wrong... "circle-virus" or "circo-virus". It has apparently jumped from pigs and I think they said birds to dogs. Seen in three states so far. CA, OH, Mich.. Picked up at Kennels or where multiple dogs gather. They don't know how it's transferred. Can't be cured easily because the dog dies before blood test can be returned. Lethargy, vomiting, and intestinal issues are the symptoms.

First class guy and operation. He treats animals and people with great respect and is a student of animal behavior. I take away so much information every time we speak. Training book coming fall 2014.

Excellent! Thanks for the heads up, I'll definitely look forward to buying that.

I have a GSD rescue dog that has been through a lot, all of which was bad. Very bad. But I have used the tips from Ritland's first book, and he's really responded in a very impressive manner.

Please tell your friend has saved a wonderful, wonderful animal.

More info here--currently unclear just exactly what is killing the dogs, but they think it might be canine circovirus. http://www.fox19.com/story/23963658/...threat-to-dogs

Well we added a new member to the family since Jake passed on over 2 months ago. He's a lab / great Pyrenees mix. He's a 5 months old rescue. We're still working on the whole house breaking thing.

It gets a little confusing in the house with two dogs named Max.
