Anyone here train under Dave Spaulding or know where he teaches classes?
I recently read Handgun Combatives written by him and was fairly impressed. I think he taught at TDI at one time, but I can't find anything taught by him online.

I think I may have permanently damaged my vision trying to read that website.
FWIW, I know Spaulding casually and we've attended one another's seminars at IALEFI conferences. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.
For some reason I have it in my head geographically he lives in Toledo, OH, maybe that was his partner. Does classes out of Cabela's in Dundee, MI twice a year. It's pretty much a head oriented day long class. But it was only $100 when I went a few years back and would say it was worth it. Couldn't afford to hit a hands on school out of state at the time and figured something is better than nothing. Bit more oriented towards getting the sheep to pull their heads out of there rears and getting them pointed in the right direction towards possible threats instead of in the sand is kind of how I'd define it. I see it's $120 now though at the bottom of that link. If you've been around a bit you won't be gaining much, but i wish I could afford to send a whole lot of friends and family.
Dave worked as an LEO in Dayton until retirement a few yrs. ago & could be seen at TDI. I don't know if he's still around the area or not.
If I remember it correctly he used with be with Montgomery PD, OH? But I'm not 100% sure.
What I do remember is he started studying how individual LEOs and law-abiding citizens have won gunfights for more than two decades. It started while he was still in the Police Academy and they started quoting the FBI Annual Study of Downed Officer incidents. He started asking how come the FBI was only compiling cases where the Good Guys lost but not ones where the Good Guys won.
So he started interviewing LEOs and armed Citizens who came out victorious in gunfights and a few decades later, he had a good sampling documented. If you ever get a chance to read his conclusions were, it's well worth the read. FWIW.
