    Question about Doc GKR's soft body armor article

    Doctor Roberts,
    in your thread "Soft body armor" you stated, "Progressive LE agencies are beginning to require that all vests purchased for uniformed patrol MUST pass the FBI Body Armor Test Protocol.... in addition, going with one (1) wide side closure strap on each side rather than two (2) smaller ones is a good idea."

    Can you elaborate on this for me? My vest has the 2 side strap system. The only other Officer I have been range shooting with (not bothering to conceal vests) has his one side strap bunch up. This ended up making his vest bow out away from his body in the arm pit area.

    Many physically fit officers find a properly designed single wide side strap more comfortable and easier to use. For officers with more rotund body types, the two strap system can work better. Below is a photo of a 6 year old U.S. Armor Enforcer Classic that exhibits no side strap bunching in typical use:
