USGI AR mags and 5.45x39 uppers

I am thinking of gettign a 5.45x39 upper. Unfortunately, since I live in a ban state, I can't get new C-products magazines. What is the general consensus on using USGI AR mags with 5.45 platform?

    Thanks!

Order mags from 44mag.com. They'll ship disassembled hi cap mags to ban states. Assemble and use at your own risk.

Same here. Once I got enough CP 5.45 mags to keep me going in a class, I stopped even considering use of non-5.45 mags.

With GI mags and 1st generation black followers you're good to go. Load the mags to 25 rounds (you might be able to get more in there, I didn't try) and have at it.
All my mags with the black followers are old as dirt, I bought them used during the ban, and swapped them out for newer ones in 2004; glad I kept them around.

I've heard from several people that they either don't work or barely work.

Nothing you don't already know. Surpisingly accurate, low recoiling... and my favorite: affordable.
