I finally tried my ARC mag out last night. It malfs when my silencer is mounted. I got back to back bolt overs from the mag not being able to keep up with the additional bolt speed from the silencer being mounted.

(never a problem with any other mags on the same set up)

It worked well enough without the can that I didn't leave it at the range, but I'll probably give it away.

What other mags have you used with your set-up? PMAG magazines? Lancer L5's?

I don't have any Lancers, but I've got over 1400 rounds with the silencer mounted using several pmag and usgi mags.

With the ARC the first 2 rounds were fine, and then I got bolt over, bolt over, bolt over. Then I pulled the can off and the mag worked. The last 5 rounds of the mag worked with the can mounted... I guess with the less weight of only 5 rounds on the follower the mag could keep up with the weapon.

This is a serious dinosaur thread, but a good place to post...does anyone still run these? I saw them for <$15, so I figured why not. Now I know. In a middy with no prior problems, I'm getting bolt-over failures maybe every other until I gave up on it for the day. I figure TD is straight-up enough to do something for me, but I'm wondering if anyone has found "the fix." Will it sort out after a few range sessions? If so, I don't mind keeping it for training.

Since I first posted in this thread ~04/04/09, I've been running about a dozen of them for work and play. They have worked well for me. Four of them are dedicated to one gun specifically.

As noted earlier, there were some subtle changes made to the mags. Two that I remember off the top of my head were a material change and an enlargement of the feedway for the rounds.

If you're having issues, call TD. Jeff and his folks are helpful.

I've not seen this thread till now but will post my findings. FWIW I had used PMags exclusively for about 3-4 years. Pat Rogers gave me one of the ARC mags at a class of his I attended. I shot the crap out of it and liked it. I've since bought about 15 more and shoot them about 50% of the time. With my various weapons in my unscientific testing they are as reliable as PMags if the PMags are the later generation. The majority of my mag related issues with these 2 types of mags were with the early PMags and even then were not a very common event. The biggest issue I had with the early PMags was failure to lock back on an empty mag. I have and happily use both and like that we have 2 types of quality mags made here.

I've seen these mags run thousands upon thousands of rounds as part of a fully-automatic rifle rental fleet and they have very much impressed me.

The only time one of them fails its because of being placed against a red-hot barrel after use. Then, of course, they wont work with melted feed lips!!

Otherwise, feeding is flawless, they don't ever break, and there's been no bending of the feed lips from being kept loaded.

I have 5 that I've run probably 1200 rounds through total, no malfunctions or problems. They seat fine in my pof gen3 lower but have to be forced home on a closed bolt in that rifle. Don't have that problem on my other gun. Also didn't see it elsewhere in this thread so ill include it here, the mags that the army is issuing now, with the brown followers, have the same follower setup with the even rounds sitting on the left.

Anyone have problems with the rounds nose diving into the front of the mag if you load more than 20 rounds? Under 20 rounds or so and they feed fine. Over 20 and its hosed.

    I load these by hand.
Any suggestions? Or should I just leave them in my 'guaranteed malf drill' box?

I'm always interested to try new improvements from reputable companies, so I bought 2 of these magazines to try when they first came out.

The first one caused double feeds 100% of the time. The second one worked fine for about 200 rounds then started the thing.

The reversed follower is weird as well.

These were a big disappointment. They're my "malfunction drill" magazines now.
