Any suggestions? Or should I just leave them in my 'guaranteed malf drill' box?
That's why I sold mine. The buyer was disclosed and just paid shipping to get them out of my sight.

In a middy with no prior problems, I'm getting bolt-over failures maybe every other until I gave up on it for the day. I figure TD is straight-up enough to do something for me, but I'm wondering if anyone has found "the fix." Will it sort out after a few range sessions? If so, I don't mind keeping it for training.

The reversed follower is weird as well.

These were a big disappointment. They're my "malfunction drill" magazines now.
I experienced all of these problems, and have watched numerous other shooters have the same problems. I had resigned these magazines to the "no way in hell" pile.

Then I got some new ones from TD for evaluation, and they are all marked "MK2" on the side. Man what a difference!

You can read more about the difference, and see pictures, and my findings, here.

The current iteration of the Tango Down mag is NOT the same as the early version. I have had no issues with magazine related malfunctions with the MK2 marked mags.

Got some ARC mags out and went digging for pics...

My mags are split about 50/50, half acquired ~April 2009 and the balance ~June 2009 or later. The mags have some different markings, but none are marked Mk2.

On the right wall of the April mags, top segment, top left corner, is "GPM" in the mold circle. There are no other markings.

On the right wall of the June mags, top segment, top left, is "GPM" over "A" in the mold circle. Bottom segment, bottom left corner, is "B" in the mold circle. There are no other markings.

The April (L) mags have a shallower and narrower channel for feeding. The June (R) are more open.

I swapped them for some reason in this pic, sorry. April (R), June (L).

Looking at Rob's pics, it appears that the mags referred to as Mk1 in his post are likely my June mags, not the earliest. I will have to acquire some Mk2s for further comparison. Though, I'd wager that as with guns, there may be several more less obvious changes to the mags over time and between specifically delineated versions.

This thread is yet another excellent example of why it's critical to test and very function of your life support gear.

Thank you for the write up Rob. I've really tried to like the TD ARC mags too so I guess I'm going to have to give the MK2 version a try.

I looked at about a dozen of my TD mags, which all work. All of them have the deeper, wider feed lips pictured above but none are marked MK2. I can see a small 2 on the side of each. As tghey work it's no issue but does anyone know when they started stamping them MK2.?

I am very interested in giving these a try. Anybody know who for sure is carrying the MK2's and has them for sale online?

Thanks Rob for the MK2 review. I contacted TD who are very responsive: Todd, Chris and Jeff. I swapped my old ARC for an MK2 and picked up a clear one as well. As you may know, only the bottom half is the colored (or clear) part, as the tops are all the same and very beefy (black). According to Chris, all new manufactured TD mags will be the MK2 version. Also just as a sidenote, I asked about the likelihood of producing 6.8spc mags, and he said there just isn't the demand to justify it at this time. As soon as I can get to the range I will blast with both of them (FDE and translucent) and report back.

I wanted to thank you as well. I have four that I had relegated to the trash for all of the same reasons that you stated. After reading this, I contacted TD and Todd replied to me with a return authorization. I will be mailing them back shortly.

This thread prompted me to check mine, and I've just ran 8 of them through a day of carbine class. Four of those are of very first generation that I had tested before, and four are approximately mid-2010 production that I took out of wrapper - not marked MK2 or anything. No problems at all, Hornady training and Prvi 55 grain ammo.
