Yup. Probably going to buy the VTAC, but the trigger is one of the things I like about it and I'd like to hear the voice of experience. I wouldn't normally want this type of trigger in a rifle that might get pressed into hard service / defensive use, but I've heard nothing but good feed back from actual owners who've at least put one through a carbine class.

If I am not mistaken Kyle Lamb's e-mail address is on his website. You could always shoot him an e-mail and ask him for his thoughts on the subject. He knows as much about fighting guns as any other SME out there.

Yes, he does. I read his book a year or so ago - one of the better books on the subject. But it's not Mr. Lamb's thoughts on the trigger I want. It's a bunch of VTAC owners' experiences during hard use I'd like to see.

Anywho, I bought the rifle. I like it because it's not same-old, same-old. I plan to mount the smallest, lightest light I can find, an Eotech 512 I've got laying around, and a sling - my kind of KISS. I'll wait until I can get my MBUSs for irons.

I paid $1405.00 plus for an OTD total of $1508.00. Staking was so-so on the carrier key, less than so-so on the castle nut. No biggie.

I'll be interested to here what your thoughts are on it after you've used it some. I got to handle one at my local cabelas(they wanted $1700-$1800) and I was really impressed. It has most of the things I have wanted out of a rifle, and I wish I could afford one.

Finally got the 15VTAC to the range this Saturday. I mounted an Eotech 512 and the sling that came with the rifle. I only put about 250 rds downrange, but here are my initial impressions:

    1. I really, really like the tube. It has the familiar ergos of a standard handguard, only it's more comfortable and it holds stuff.

    2. I like the VLTOR stock almost as much as the FF tube. The combination is synergistic. The rifle handles extremely well for me.

    3. The VTAC sling will take some getting used to. I like it, but I like my VCAS better and have much more time in it.

    4. Before sighting in, I put a Leupold tactical on a QD mount on the rifle. I shot for groups to see what kind of accuracy to expect. My best group of 15, 5 shot groups was 1.20 at 100 yards using 62 Gr. Average was 1.87. Trigger is excellent.

    5. Pretty happy with the acuracy results, I sighted in with the Eotech. I then loaded 4 Pmags with 30 rounds each and proceeded to make as much noise as I could, as fast as I could. 120 rds in no time with no issues. Damn, that's expensive these days! Brass was slung fairly far, as I expected it would be - but not as far as I feared it would be.

    6. For the rest of the time, I rang steel from a slung position - 2, 3, 4 shot strings on 1,2,or 3 plates, then sling rifle and repeat. This rifle mounted like we had waaaay more time together than we did. I really like everything about this gun at this stage in our relationship.

    7. Dislikes: none at this point. More info as I shoot it more. I'll have to divvy my trigger time between the VTAC and my new DDM4 which has only been to the range 5 times now.

I'd doubt that there are many, if any posters here with more "hard use" time on the JP trigger that comes with the gun than the man himself. YMMV.

What are you guys seeing these priced at near you? I am in Northern Virginia and I saw one today for just shy of $2000.00. I would like to pick one up but that seems pretty high to me, even with the very nice package it comes with.
